A Lost History of the Trans-Mississippi Exposition Buildings

More than a century ago, the 1898 Trans-Mississippi and International Exposition covered 180-acres in North Omaha. There were 20 grand neo-classical buildings, and dozens of other buildings with exhibitions, headquarters, highlights, amusements and more. This presentation will present some of the most important points about these buildings, getting past the horsehair and plaster to uncover some rare details that have been lost to time. Discover some of the more interesting, rare and unusual parts of the story of the main buildings, the state buildings and the other places that made the TME great!

Adam has written more than 300 articles for NorthOmahaHistory.com, hosted 50 episodes of the North Omaha History Podcast and is author of North Omaha History Volumes 1, 2 & 3.

The exhibit is sponsored by Douglas County, Nebraska, Humanities Nebraska and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment, First National Bank and HDR. Additional support provided by Godfather’s Pizza, Home Instead Senior Care, Kiewit, WoodmenLife, and Omaha Steaks.
